ABOUT

My favorite beach.

“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”

Howard Thurman

I’m Andres Valdes and that’s one my favorite quotes. And in some ways, it’s what my blog is all about.

WHAT IS THIS BLOG ABOUT?

I’m on a quest to learn what makes me and you “come alive.”

Why?

Because people who are fully alive, instead of just existing, are difference-makers.

I try focusing my writing on three topics:

1. Leadership

2. Influence

3. Personal Development

These are three of my favorite things. In the process, I hope to inspire and encourage by sharing some short stories where I try pulling out lessons from life’s random events.

By this point, you think I’m either crazy or you’re curious. Well, if you think I’m nuts than this blog obviously isn’t for you. But if you like interested, please subscribe up above or say hello on twitter, or show me some love by leaving a comment somewhere on the blog.

WHO IS THIS BLOG FOR?

I’m not a leadership guru. And  I don’t have all the answers or a crystal ball, but I’m sharing everything I learn along the way.

My goal is to inspire, support, and join others who are on a similar journey of personal growth. I know there are tons of folks out there thinking about this stuff.

I know you’re there; I see you. 🙂

WHO AM I?

During the day, I’m a diplomat and in the early morning and in evenings I’m a speaker, coach, and facilitator focusing on leadership, personal development and influence.

But the most important titles in my life are husband and father.

I also enjoy long walks on the beach. 😉

WHERE DOES MY INSPIRATION COME FROM?

My inspiration comes from lots of places:

• My Christian faith (but this is not a religious blog.)

• Books!

• Experiences (good and bad)

• Movies/Stories

• My photography at times.

• Quotes

• Difference  makers

WHAT DRIVES ME CRAZY?

The thing that drives me the craziest in this world our people who with loads of potential that don’t do anything with it. I have to do something about that even if it’s one person at a time! Maybe that’s my mission. This reminds me of something Aristotle once said,

“Where your talents and the needs of the world cross, therein lies your vocation.”

WHY START A BLOG IF I DON’T LIKE WRITING?

I don’t claim to be a good writer,  but the writing process gives me a mental clarity that I can find anywhere else. Plus, I have my own unique perspective, which I know can help others. I write to inspire, encourage, and connect with others. I also love interviewing people who’ve accomplished interesting things and tie it to leadership.
